A famous picture painted by Van Gogh has been analyzed and found to be a highly accurate model of turbulence.

The Starry Night has been found to contain very accurate depictions of turbulence. Other paintings by Van Gogh that contain this accurate depiction include the Road with Cypress and Star (1890) and Wheat Field with Crows (1890).
