One of the more amusing comments seen in a pilot report of turbulence:

Note that a C402 is a very small plane.

With rides a bit choppy in the airspace over the Cleveland sector, get a behind the scenes listen to air traffic control and pilots discussing turbulence. If you listen right now, you’ll hear a lot of ‘how are the rides’, ‘light to moderate chop’, and more.
Go to this page: Live ATC Live Air Traffic Control
Scroll all the way to the bottom, and listen to Cleveland center ZOB.
These feeds are brought to you by Live ATC.

A very unusual jet stream arrangement today means that there is no way to go across the country without running into moderate-severe turbulence. At low levels you have winds going the wrong way over the mountains, and at high levels the jet stream is shaking up planes.

What’s worse than flying through moderate-severe turbulence? Not flying at all, being stuck on a plane for 8 hours with only these chips to eat. Many JetBlue customers were stranded waiting for an elusive takeoff that never came, and were subdued with terra blue chips and overflowing bathrooms.
Several planes became frozen to the ground and people were unable to leave the planes.
Links: here and here.
Not to be outdone, Delta managed to rack up 11 hours, but they claim the plane never left the gate and passengers were free to get on and off.

Just in time for Valentine’s day, a large snowstorm is moving in over the Ohio valley, headed east towards the New York/Washington area tonight. Expect many flight cancellations and turbulent take offs and landings as strong winds rock the planes on flights that aren’t canceled. Blizzard conditions are already being reported where the storm has already hit.

There’s a good chance that if you are flying, you may be taking a cruise as well. What turbulence forecast has done for flyers, we are doing for cruisers as well. Please visit the main Turbulence Forecast site and look for your cruise wave forecast! Rough seas? A cabin toward the middle of the ship moves the least (just like a seat on the plane over the wing is best).

What happens when your aircraft is behind another ‘heavy’ aircraft? (no turbulence advisories for the area of the incident)

This occurred over Alabama. I also have seen this happen to a Boeing 717 somewhere in the south a while ago.

More rough rides for those traveling through the south east today. In an unusual situation, turbulence is being caused by a combination of both convective storm activity and a strong jet stream. The combination is causing severe turbulence for many planes in the area.
A SIGMET (basically, a warning) was issued:

Those of you headed to Orlando or other Florida and southeastern destinations should be ready for a ride today. Many planes are encountering moderate and severe turbulence due to a line of storms crossing through the area and jet stream turbulence. Pilot reports so far:
