The A319 is a medium sized craft. Bigger usually means smoother rides. The best hour to travel is usually over night, or early morning, rides can be calmer than. Thankfully this is a good time of year to fly, since usually if there isn't any storms around the ride is smooth. I've only flown once into New York, and it can tend to be a little bumpy due to the layout, but it's no different than flying anywhere else, for the most part. The plane will have to make some sharp turns, but nothing special, really. New York weather is rather unremarkable, it's probably not as warm as Mexico City.
Here's some weather information for New York:

So, as they say, sit back, relax, and enjoy the flight.
