Well, I just got back from my trip to the Keys. My instructor offered to go with us so I could get some Dual Cross Country time, so I jumped at the offer. Nothing better than skirting Miami traffic and getting there in less than 2 hours. Plus, the view is much better.
When we originally talked, the plan was to do a nice sightseeing tour along the coast for the entire trip. The weather was not cooperating, and we had to change plans. Everything was great though, besides me being a little white knuckled hoping the storms wouldn't close in around us. We had XM weather onboard and that really helped.
We stayed low, in order to stay VFR, but we requested flight following when we could. We only were on it for a few minutes, but you can see the flight path that we took.

We came out around Marathon Key and followed the coast the rest of the way. I landed her smoothly in Key West with just a little chirp. It was a great experience, and it was cool to experience how helpful everyone is that you communicate with as you fly.
Overall, awesome. Again, my fear of flying has diminished into a fraction of what it was. I hope to entirely beat this thing before much longer.
