why is it always bumpy around colorado? and is this extremely unsafe? couldnt a plane crash into the mountains due to this?

Safety isn't a question, but it is usually bumpy around Colorado because of the mountains. Think about rocks in a fast moving stream and how the water flows over them, it's the same kind of thing.

We also get the imfamous Chinook winds out here. It's when
cool air from Canada blows up and over the Rockies. When it
starts it's downward decent over the "Front Range", it warms
and picks up speed. So on the plus side, we get warmer weather
more often, but it's also very windy and unstable at times...especially out by the airport (DIA). Another plus is if you are into "Para-gliding" the winds are persistant enough in the foothills, you can ride on the circular
wind currents for hours. I've been up at Lookout Mountain and I've
watched those guys sailing overhead having a blast!
