You are certainly flying the right airline, Northwest has the best turbulence avoidence forcasting available, so you are already ahead of the game. I also prefer the Boeing 757 as it's a bigger plane and handles well.

Now, down to the forecast, I don't see any thing to worry about, only maybe a little bit of light as you get nearer to DTW.

Thank you for your forecast! There was one jolt above Colorodo,
and as you predicted, some light turbulence around Detroit.
This was about 30 min prior to landing, just above lake Michigan, and
it was not so bad since we were ready to land. The seatbelt warning was
off till the decent. I guess it doesn't get any better than this.
