Departing DTW at 4PM to SLC via ORD on a 735 then 752. Just wondering what you think about the rides.
Thanks.

I think periods of light to moderate, but intensifying as you get closer to SLC. I don't think DTW-ORD will be too bad, and the first part of ORD-SLC should be ok.

UAL0153 from DTW-ORD was mostly smooth. Aircraft substitution to A319 and amended final altitude of FL320. A few small bumps on the climb between FL130 and FL220, but nothing major.
UAL0565 from ORD-SLC was very good, as well. Our biggest bump on the climb was actually hitting the wake from the A330 landing on the cross runway right before we rotated. No bumps on the climb and a smooth flight at FL340 all the way to Ft. Dodge. At that point, the rides were deteriorating at all altitudes between FL180 and FL360. Capt requested FL380 or FL400 when the light chop became continuous light turb and then moderate. We were cleared to FL380 west of DEN and stayed there until our descent into SLC. Smooth as silk approach and landing on a beautiful clear night in SLC.

Yup...gotta love Channel 9. I fly UA almost exclusively, and this is one of my favorite features of their service offering. I love listening in and I'm usually very disappointed on the rare trip when the Capt doesn't make it available.
