I fly to ABQ quite a bit for my job--not exactly one of my favorite destinations due to frequent turbulent landings. I'm quite happy to have found your site, and offer much appreciation in advance!

The jet stream is taking a sharp dip in the area, but it's evening out. I think there is a slight chance of some light turbulence, but should be ok. Welcome to the site!

The flight was great--smooth as glass until final approach. Gotta love landing in Albuquerque:eek:
It does make me wonder if there's a good way to predict those mountain waves/thermals that plague that area. I tend to find night flights are the best--any thoughts?
Thanks again for your great site!

There really isn't a good way, but as you said, night flights would be best, but I think early morning (before the sun comes out), would be as good if not better. It's just a matter of heat. Just how rough was landing in ABQ? ( Use this chart for a guide: http://www.turbulenceforecast.com/turbulence_types.php )

I would probably call it moderate--lots of fishtailing and abrupt bumps. I find it never really starts until the aircraft reaches about 10,000 ft, so at least it doesn't last too long.
Thanks again!
