Bay of Bengal turbulence

I've flown from Europe to Australia via Asia five times now and every time, regardless of the season, we encounter turbulence over the Bay of Bengal.

Do you know why this happens every time?

I have read other stories of people talking about consistent turbulence over the Bay of Bengal, and I seem to remember they attributed it to something to do with the cooler dry air coming of the Indian sub-continent and Himalayas mixing with the warmer moist air from the Bay...
