Anyone have experience/knowledge of Chinese Airlines? What is the best/safest? What are the ones you would never fly?

I think Cathay Pacific is among the best.

Anyone have experience with China Southern Airlines. They are part of Sky Team and I understand to be part of Sky Team (Delta, NWA, Continental, etc) you have to be a reputable and safe airline.

I don't think Skyteam would accept a crummy airline.

They seem pretty safe.

I've flown on China Airlines and it seemed fine. Only problem was the food. Absolutely horrible. Bring your own food if you fly on China Airlines. They served fish and shrimp and I don't think you can any higher risk of food poisoning then by eating seafood on a long haul Chinese Airline. Luckily, I didn't see anyone getting sick, so I guess I was wrong, but I get paranoid about these things.

China Southern is pretty good. Great service. I flew them domestically within china from CTU to JZH (11,000 ft in the mountains) and it was pretty comfortable.

I flew China Southern LAX to CAN (Guangzhou) and within China and it was good. Boeing 777 and Airbus 320 - newer planes. Service was good. Food was so-so. All in all, it was a good experience.
