Hello, thank you for the holiday greetings. I think overall it will be pretty good. Some occasional light-moderate out of EWR for a bit and for the first part of the ocean crossing, although the current eastbound tracks are along a jet and the routes are using the jet, so depends on what altitude they fly. After you're out of that, the rest looks good, some occasional bumps as you might expect. Enjoy your trip.

Hi, thanks for the reply. When you say "eastbound tracks are along a jet and the routes are using the jet," does that mean there's a transatlantic jet stream and does it mean the planes are flying right along it rather adjusting ther routes a bit north or south? Is that because it speeds up the trip? Is that more "valuable" to most passengers than a smoother flight? Sorry if that is a dumb question!

Still 24 hours away, so pls let me know if you see any changes (good or bad : ) Thanks again.

With the current fuel prices airlines try to reduce fuel costs as much as possible. 180 mph tailwinds will significantly reduce flight time and fuel burn, so going along with the jetstream is the cheapest and fastest option traveling eastbound. That is more 'valuable' for most passengers but definitely very valuable for Airline management. Most of the times it's pretty smooth in the jetstream though.

Thank you for the explanation. That's helpful. I guess all I can do is hope the jetstream will give us a nice push without making things too turbulent.
