  • How is turbulence forecasted?

    How do companies like Jeppesen formulate the turbulence forecast maps? Which data is taken into consideration and combined to obtain previews of such specific patterns?

    I would say mostly the jet stream, fronts, winds, high and low pressure areas, temperature gradients, that sort of thing.

      This & plugging all the various data into computers they come up with a forecast. Now being anything but an it guy I make no claims to understand it
      Thunderstorms always imply severe or greater turbulence.
